Spotler Group, a marketing software provider hell-bent on expansion, has acquired Dutch email service provider (ESP) Webpower, which will expand Spotler’s market reach and product suite. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but it follows a few months after three other acquisitions, Measuremail and Tripolis in June and Flowmailer in March.
Two years ago, the Rotterdam-based company spent $16.3 million to acquire CommuniGator, a fellow mid-market player in the UK. Spotler’s only reported fundraising is a €5 million round from CNBB Venture Partners back in 2016.
Founded in 2004, Spotler Group is a collection of martech companies founded in the Y2K era (with the exception of, Flowmailer which was founded in 2015), and it seems determined to not only stay relevant but dominate in its home country. In a couple different press releases, board member Lee Chadwich is quoted saying, “We see that the market is consolidating and competition from international players is increasing.” The Rotterdam-based company now claims to be the largest ESP in the Netherlands.
According to its website, Spotler has over 2500 clients in eight European countries. Along with more market power in the Netherlands, Webpower brings on board a particularly “strong position” in Spain and Sweden.
The acquired company, which focuses on email automation and artificial intelligence, will continue running from its headquarters in Barnevald, along with its 30 employees. Webpower customers will have access to Spotler’s product range, as well.
